ADEN (Debriefer)--The Supreme Emergency National Committee for Covid-19 on Wednesday recorded 72 new coronavirus cases in five of the Yemeni provinces controlled by the internationally recognised government.

The new cases brought the total confirmed cases in the government-run regions since last year to 5.047, including 986 deaths and 1.886 recoveries.

They were reported in Hadhramout, 26, Taiz, 17, Shabwa, 15, Aden, 9, and Lahij, 4, the committee wrote on Twitter.

It also recorded 10 deaths from the virus, including 4 in Hadhramout and 3 in Taiz.

Yemen received the first batch of Covid-19 vaccine, 360.000 doses, a week ago, shortly after the committee declared a state of health emergency to contain a surge in infections and deaths.
