ADEN (Debriefer)--The Southern Transitional Council on Thursday put its forces on alert in Yemen's southeastern province of Shabwa.
The president of the council Aidarous Al-Zubaidi held a meeting with military chiefs from Shabwa in the interim capital Aden and ordered to lift the oil-rich province out of chaos, media outlets loyal to the council said.
Aden Governor Ahmed Lamlas attended the meeting.
Shabwa is controlled by the internationally recognised government with support from Saudi Arabia which leads a military coalition involved in Yemen.
The UAE-backed council is calling for separating the south from the north. The Iran-allied Houthi group has been controlling large swaths of the north since it seized power in late 2014.
Lately, the US and some of its western allies urged to end escalatory rhetoric in the south, hinting at international sanctions against those threatening the national unity.
