SHABWAH (Debriefer)--The Giant Brigades announced on Tuesday the liberation of the whole district of Usaylan in west of Yemen's southeastern province of Shabwah after days of fighting with the Iran-backed Houthi group.

We have recaptured the remaining parts of the district, the Hamai Intersection, and the towns of Al-Noqoub, Nowaydriyah and Al-Hajirah on the highway between Shabwah and Marib province, they said in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by Debriefer.

Early this week, the brigades and government forces with support from the Saudi-led coalition launched a military operation, the hurricane of the south, to drive the Houthis out of the oil-rich province.

They have cut off the Houthi supply lines and are besieging Houthi fighters in north of the district of Bayhan where battles have been raging since Saturday, according to the statement.

In recent months, the Houthis seized the districts of Usaylan, Bayhan and Al-Ain coinciding with offensives in Marib and Bayda.

Meanwhile, military sources said the Saudi-led coalition struck Houthi positions and reinforcements in Usaylan and Bayhan and areas on the border with Bayda province, destroying a number of Houthi vehicles.
