Hodeida (Debriefer) The UN Mission to Support the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA) misleads the international community about the situation in Hodeida three ports, the Yemeni government said Saturday, calling for a probe committee.
UNMHA claim – that it maintains the civil nature of Hodeida, Salif and Ras Eisa ports – contradicts the reality, misleading the international community with de facto situation imposed by the Houthis, Hodeida local authorities said in a statement.
The Houthi group deliberately fired the three ports' officials and appointed loyalists in their place, according to the statement.
The Houthis spread naval mines in the vicinity of Safer FSO facility off Ras Eisa port, the authorities added, noting that Houthi mines frequently explode in the three ports with UNMHA failing to take serious stance.
The statement called for rapid halt to the "Houthi terrorism", and for formation of a committee to probe the UNMHA claims.
Earlier, UNMHA said it increased its routine patrols in order to maintain the three ports' civil nature, and that it works on expanding its monitoring range to outreach areas witnessing instability in Hodeida southern districts.
