Shabwa (Debriefer) The Yemeni oil-rich governorate of Shabwa witnessed late on Monday renewed clashes pitting forces affiliated to the government against others to the Emirati-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).
The infighting occurred between government troops and forces from both Shabwa Defense and Giant Brigades in al-Abr area linking Ataq city (Shabwa provincial capital) and Hadhramout governorate, local sources said.
Shabwa Defense and Giant Brigades forces launched a massive attack on, with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) intensely striking, government troops' sites on al-Abr-Ataq road, the sources added.
On Friday, UAVs (thought to be Emirati) bombed government troops' sites and checkpoints run by the First Military Region in Hadhramout, near al-Abr, Yemeni military sources said then.
The drones also targeted army sites based along the area between Ataq and al-Wadea crossing, the sources added.
Last Wednesday, the government troops were under Emirati airstrikes that left 52 deaths among security special forces in Shabwa.
