Sana'a (Debriefer) The Houthi group cannot accept any extension to the UN-mediated truce before the civil servants receive their salaries, head of the Houthi Supreme Political Council said Wednesday.
Payment of all the public employees and retirees is a basic demand of the Yemeni people, Mahdi al-Mashat added at meeting with the UN envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg.
If this condition is not met and truce advantages do not improve, "we won't accept extension," he said, according to the Sana'a-based Saba.
"Our agreement to the truce in this way means we accept the continuation of war and blockade on our people."
The UN envoy arrived in the Houthi-held Sana'a City earlier on Wednesday for talks on truce extension.
