The private Al-Rawdha Hospital in Taiz on Thursday declared temporary suspension of service for disinfection purposes, after five of its healthcare workers had caught the novel coronavirus.

"Since there are confirmed infections of COVID-19, including 5 our staff, in addition to suspected cases among the staff.. it was decided to suspend work provisionally," the hospital said in a statement seen by Debriefer.

The purpose of this pause is to conduct inclusive disinfection and to curb the pandemic spread inside the hospital, it added.

The health center will be closed as of Thursday noon, and service provision will be resumed on Saturday morning, the statement read.

Since 10 April, the Yemeni official government-run supreme emergency committee has recorded 421 COVID-19 infections until Wednesday, including 95 deaths and 17 recoveries.
