The Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Friday announced its plan to overthrow Yemen's internationally-recognized government and impose "self-governance" in all southern governorates under its control.
"Self-governance is a public demand, not only in Aden but in all southern governorates," acting chairman of the Emirati-backed STC tweeted.
Fulfilling this demand on the ground implies an "ouster of corrupt figures and warlords in the legitimate government by forming self-rule committees in all southern governorates," Ahmed bin Boraik added.
After its announcement of state of emergency and self-government on 26 April in Aden and other southern provinces under its control amid Arab and international rebuff, the STC on 19 June seized and imposed self-rule in the Socotra archipelago.
