MARIB (Debriefer)--The Houthi Group, also known as Ansar Allah, on Monday said its fighters have captured the centre and market of the district of Mahiliya in south of Yemen's Marib province after fierce battles with the government forces.
Pro-Houthi media outlets said Houthi fighters have also seized the areas of Al-Aqabah, Al-Mohalil Market, the strategic Murad Mountain and villages of Al-Ghubayb and Al-Asha.
The government forces denied the reports saying they have repelled a failed assault on the district, inflicting heavy losses on Houthis. They published photos of Houthis who were killed and arrested during battles.
Tens of Houthi bodies are scattered in battlefields including the body of a senior Houthi field leader, they said.
Locals in Marib told Debriefer they were hearing clashes around the centre of the district.
