ADEN (Debriefer)--Secretary of former defence minister, Maj. Sharaf Al-Subaihi, on Friday called on the Yemeni government to provide clarification over leaks that the name of the minister has been removed from the lists of prisoners to be swapped with the Houthi group.
Minister Maj. Gen. Mahmoud Al-Subaihi was captured in the area of Al-Anad in Lahj province in March 2015 during battles over south Yemen following the Houthi takeover.
Brother of president Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, Maj. Gen. Nasser Hadi, who was deputy chief of the national security apparatus and Brig. Gen. Faisal Rajab, commander of the 119th Brigade, were captured in those battles as well
The government and the Houthis are currently holding UN-sponsored talks on prisoners in the Swiss town of Montreux.
Around 900 Houthi prisoners and 520 government prisoners are expected to be exchanged if the two sides reach a deal.
Sources familiar with the talks revealed that the lists of the government prisoners include the name of brother of president, Nasser Hadi, and 19 Saudis and Sudanese.
Saudi Arabia has been leading an Arab military coalition fighting the Houthis in support of the government since March 2015. The coalition includes Sudanese troops fighting inside Yemen and on the Saudi border with Yemen.
