ABYAN (Debriefer)--A senior officer in the Security Belt Forces, SBF, was injured along with two of his bodyguards in an attempted assassination in Yemen's southern province of Abyan, local sources said on Sunday.
A third bodyguard was killed, they said, elaborating that gunmen on a bus intercepted and opened fire at the chief of the Security Belt Forces in the district of Ahwar Ali Al-Hubaydhi while he was driving near the Military Police Camp in the area of Al-Koud.
The SBF are loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council which has been fighting the forces of the Internationally Recognised Government for two years in Abyan and other southern regions.
