NEW YORK (Debriefer)--Restoring peace in Yemen starts with putting pressure on the Houthi group to cease hostilities and accept to resume political negotiations, Foreign Minister Ahmed Awadh bin Mubarak said at a meeting with the US envoy to the country Tim Lenderking in New York on Saturday.

The meeting discussed opportunities to revive the peace process in order to end the seven-year war amid Houthi military escalation in the provinces of Marib, Shabwa and Abyan and continued attacks on civilians and civilian objects in Saudi Arabia, the state Saba news agency reported.

The two brought up the issue of the FSO Safer Tanker and Houthi attempts to use of the tanker as a bargaining chip, it said.

Lenderking said he is continuing his efforts to resume the political process and stressed the importance of cessation of hostilities across the country.
