SHABWAH (Debriefer)--The pro-government forces, including the Giant Brigades, entered the centre of the Olya Bayhan Town in Yemen's southeastern province of Shabwah, local sources said on Friday, pointing out that the Houthi fighters are fleeing into adjacent provinces due to their huge losses.
They launched an assault on Houthi positions from the eastern and northeastern parts of the town with various weapons and covered by heavy artillery shelling, forcing the Houthis to retreat to the areas of Malih and Al-Qundhu on the border with Bayda province, the sources said.
The brigades said in a statement they recaptured the Bayhan-Bayda Highway which was the main Houthi supply line.
Early this month and with support from the Saudi-led coalition, the government forces launched an offensive to liberate Shabwah from the Iran-allied Houthi group.
So far, they have recaptured the district of Usaylan, one of three districts that fell to the Houthis months ago.
