Aden (Debriefer) Fate of Yemen's truce is dependent on how the Houthi group is committed to applying its pledges under the UN-mediates deal, the Southern Transitional Council (STC) said Saturday.
At a meeting chaired by Ahmed Bin Boraik in Aden, the STC highlighted the need for the Houthis to abide by the truce provisions as an essential condition for the ceasefire sustainability and future expansion.
The Iranian-backed Houthi group reneges its commitments, undermining the ongoing truce and any future efforts to expand its terms, the STC said in a statement.
The Emirati-backed Council called on the UN special envoy to pressure the Houthis, and to provide a comprehensive framework including all the commitments agreed by the parties to solve the Yemeni crisis.
On Tuesday 2 August, the UN said the Yemeni rivals agreed 2-month extension to the truce that started on 2 April and was renewed on 2 June.
