Taiz (Debriefer) The Yemeni government troops thwarted two Houthi attacks on their sites in the southwestern governorate of Taiz Tuesday overnight, spokesman for Taiz command said Tuesday.
Under intense artillery cover, the Houthi fighters carried out attempted offensives and infiltrations on al-Twair sites in Maqbana district and Kalaba site in Taiz city, using different arms, Abdul Basit al-Bahr added.
The Houthi attempts sparked fierce clashes with the national army troops that foiled the attacks, forced the attackers to retreat and inflicted them human and ordnance losses, he said.
The Houthi attacks come one day after the UN-mediated truce expired with no agreement to extension, amid UN constant efforts to persuade the rivals to renew the armistice that started on 2 April.
