Aden (Debriefer) The Yemeni official government on Wednesday approved an emergency plan to enhance food security and fishery sector, through boosting the local production of wheat as part of a set of measures.
At the cabinet weekly meeting, PM Maeen Abdulmalek instructed the two ministries of finance and planning to add the plan to the State's public budget for next year and find the funding needed to apply.
Suggested by the agriculture minister, the food security plan includes an increase and improve the agricultural and fishery production so as to minimize the food gab, particularly in wheat, the Aden-based Saba said.
The adopted plan aims to improve the infrastructure of agricultural and fishery facilities, help boost these sectors' production and expand the plantation of cash crops in order to cope with the food insecurity suffered by a war-torn country risking a wide-ranging famine.
