Iranian president Hassan Rouhani said that US sanctions have failed so far to shut down Iranian oil exports and will not achieve its goals in future.
Speaking during a cabinet meeting in Tehran on Wednesday, Hassan Rouhani said that Iran will continue exporting crude oil despite US efforts to stop it through sanctions.
According to Iran Press, Iranian president described economic activities of the country promising and positive despite the enemies and said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran will powerfully continue the path of its oil exports.”
“In the past 9 months, our trade balance has been positive because of our $750m non-oil exports, which indicates that the activities of the economic executives and the private and public sectors have been successful,” Rouhani added.
He also said, “Based on the report by Minister of Petroleum, our oil sales have been continuing just as it was expected, but there are some minor issues that are solvable and will be solved soon.”
Referring to reports on employment, Rouhani said, “These figures show that in this year’s autumn, we have had 623 thousand net employment and this is promising given the current conditions of the country.”
“For the first time, our net employment rate has reached to almost 24 million people, while at the beginning of the current government’s term of office, 20.6 million people were employed in the country,” Rouhani added.
On December 11, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said: "After 4 November our oil exports have increased significantly. In the current year our oil exports have increased by 13 percent compared to last year."
The US, following withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in May 2018, announced its' intention to reduce Iran's oil exports to zero.
But later the Donald Trump administration was forced to grant waivers to eight countries to continue purchasing Iran’s crude oil aimed at preventing an oil price hike.
