Griffiths-STC meeting on video

The Emirati-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Wednesday discussed, with the UN special envoy for Yemen, efforts aimed at pushing political process to solve the crisis and tackling the humanitarian situation in the country amid COVID-19 outbreak.
The on-video meeting comes as part of the ongoing talks, between the STC and Martin Griffiths' office, on de-escalation and ceasefire efforts, confidence-building measures, humanitarian file and political process, the STC website said in a statement.
The meeting brought together STC senior negotiator Nasser al-Khobboji along with four other leaders, and Griffiths along with his deputy Maeen Shoraim and a number of advisors, according to the statement.
The talks are held against a background of tensions mutually escalated by the STC and the Yemeni UN-recognized government following the former's declared state of emergency and self-rule in southern provinces under its control, amid international rebuff.
