US President Donald Trump said Thursday evening that he is looking for a just and lasting solution to the Yemeni crisis.
"The United States appreciates the existing partnership between our two governments, and we also appreciate your efforts to achieve peace," according to the Aden-based Yemeni news agency (Saba), according to a message addressed to Yemeni President Abdrabbo Mansour Hadi on the occasion of the 30th National Day of the Republic of Yemen.
Addressing the Yemeni president, he added, "Working together, we look forward to achieving a just and lasting solution in Yemen, and we stand with you in seeking to preserve the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Yemen."
Yemen has been racked by an armed conflict that broke out after the Iranian-backed Houthis had ousted the official government late in 2014.
The conflict escalated after a Saudi-led coalition intervened military in the country in March 2015 to reinstate the government of President Hadi, leaving millions of people killed, injured, or displaced.
